VILNIUS, May 22 (Xinhua) -- A China-Europe freight train from Dongguan, a manufacturing hub in south China's Guangdong Province, arrived in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius on Thursday.
Setting off from Dongguan on May 9, the postal service train passed by Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus, before arriving at its destination some 10,799 km away.
The train carried 41 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) loaded with 260 tonnes of international mail, including clothing, toys, luggage and electronics, from Dongguan and surrounding areas.
The international freight will be transferred to 26 other European countries and regions, including Spain, Britain, Germany and Italy.
The opening of this new China-Europe freight train service line will help promote multilateral trade exchanges and cooperation between parts of south China and countries and regions along the route.
Since its launch in mid-April, three China-Europe freight trains belonging to the new postal service have arrived in Lithuania, meeting Europe's demand for international freight amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
