FRANKFURT, July 31 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged down on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index down 66.29 points, or 0.54 percent, to close at 12,313.36 points.
Material manufacturer Covestro lost 4.73 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by automotive supplier Continental and automotive manufacturer Volkswagen, which lost 3.98 percent and 3.25 percent respectively.
Global internet technology and financial services provider Wirecard gained 4.00 percent, becoming the top gainer. Multinational chemical firm Linde and aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero advanced 1.17 percent and 1.10 percent respectively.
Multinational software corporation SAP was the most traded share with a turnover of 340.43 million euros (403.34 million U.S. dollars).
