MANILA, October 28 (PIA) -- The 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) provides spotlight to two motion pictures by Filipino directors, "Fan Girl" and "Genus Pan" ("Lahi, Hayop"), to be featured in various theaters in Japan from October 31 to November 9.
The films are co-presented by The Japan Foundation Asia Center, an institution which facilitates cultural exchange and relationship-building among Asian nations.
"Fan Girl" by Director Antoinette Jadaone will premiere under the "Tokyo Premiere 2020", a category that focuses on film creations by unique directors around the world. This film is about an overzealous and obsessive fan who sneaks into an actor's house and sees a horrifying truth.
Meanwhile, the second film "Genus Pan" ("Lahi, Hayop") by Director Lav Diaz will be featured under the "World Focus" category which presents works from film festivals worldwide, foreign films unreleased in Japan, and award-winning films that have been screened at overseas film festivals.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), "Genus Pan" was screened at the 77th Venice Film Festival in September this year and won the Best Director prize at the Orizzonti competition, an event dedicated to highlight "new aesthetic and expressive trends in world cinema.
