RAWALPINDI, Pakistan - The Murree tragedy, in which 23 people died after becoming stranded in their vehicles owing to severe snow and traffic jams, was caused by the municipal administration's incompetence, according to the five-member investigative committee's report.

According to Geo News, the committee has completed its investigation and will provide its findings in the form of a draught to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Monday.

According to sources, the team has left Murree for Lahore after completing the investigation, which was based on interviews with victims and administrative officials.

According to reports, the investigation revealed that multiple snowplows were parked in the same location on the day of the tragedy, causing road jams, the administrative staff was absent from duty, and a blizzard warning from the metrological department was blatantly ignored.

On January 8, 23 people died from carbon monoxide poisoning while trapped in their cars due to heavy snowfall in Murree, stranding thousands of tourist vehicles.
