SAGAING, Myanmar - According to a local resistance group leader in Sagaing Region's Ayadaw Township, a woman was captured and killed by regime forces on Sunday.
Thidar Myint, 43, a scout for the Danger Force, a local resistance group, was apprehended during a raid on the group's base, according to Maung Lay, the group's leader.
"They shot her after tying her hands behind her back." "Her body was burned in a hut," he explained.
He added that the base, located between the villages of Kan Phyu and Wah Yaung Taw, approximately 7 kilometers west of Ayadaw, was also destroyed in the raid.
Maung Lay said two barracks were set on fire, and weapons and ammunition were lost.
He claimed that the group attempted to defend the base but was forced to retreat due to being outgunned by junta troops who also used civilians as human shields.
He added that one Danger Force member was injured in the fighting, and an unknown number of hostages were later released.
The Danger Force warned local civilians on Sunday to avoid the Monywa-Ayadaw road as regime forces continued their attacks.
The troops behind the raid were said to be based in Ayadaw, about 40 kilometers northeast of Monywa, the headquarters of the Northwestern Regional Military Command.
